NEW YORK STREETPRINTING by PURE EVIL

As part of my residency at The Quin NYC I spent a day STREETPRINTING across New York with curator DK Johnston, hitting 5 significant spots across the city and producing screenprint at each location.

1. The Factory on Union Square – Where Andy Warhol was shot by Valerie Solanis.

2. Magic Shop Recording Studio – David Bowie recorded BLACKSTAR here with Producer Tony Visconti.

3. Dakota Building – Location of fatal shooting of John Lennon

4.The Met – Jean Michel Basquiat started his art career here selling his postcards on the steps.

5.The Chelsea Hotel – Dylan Thomas spent his last days here.

The Elvis BLACK STAR print is a reference to the song of the same name, originally released by Elvis Presley that seems to reflect David Bowies passing in its lyrics and hints at a connection between the 2 artists, born on the same day of the year.

Thanks to the people of New York and to Crossie for filming me..
